American Structurepoint is among the design partners receiving a 2025 Best in Construction award for their work on the State Road 78 (SR 78) Resurfacing and Safety Improvements project in Lee County, Florida. These prestigious awards, which recognize excellence in construction and design, are presented annually in collaboration with the Florida Transportation Builders’ Association (FTBA) and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). To enhance safety, improve traffic flow, and reduce crashes, American Structurepoint partnered with FDOT and contractor Ajax Paving Industries of Florida to design upgrades spanning 0.763 miles of SR 78. Key improvements included replacing the existing two-way, left-turn lane with a raised median, adding directional turn lanes to reduce crash risks, and upgrading the drainage system. “We are proud to have joined with FDOT and contractor Ajax Paving to deliver improvements that are helping to reduce crashes and keep traffic moving safely along this vital roadway,” said American Structurepoint Vice President Nick Harrison. Feedback from corridor-area residents guided the design team in incorporating several features to address community concerns. This included adding a “bulb-out” area to make U-turns easier and safer for motorists entering and exiting the Carriage Village community. A “No Right Turn” sign was also added to reduce potential conflicts between right-turning vehicles and U-turning traffic.

At American Structurepoint, we’re committed to our clients and the long-term partnership we have with them. One example is our partnership with the Indianapolis Airport Authority, which governs the Indianapolis International Airport. Our investigative engineers performed roof condition assessments on 32 of the airport’s structures, which identified immediate and future maintenance and replacement needs. Having this information allows the Airport Authority to plan proactively for when and how much to budget for repairs or replacement of buildings’ roofs so the Indianapolis International Airport can remain a best-in-class facility that accommodates more than 7 million travelers per year.
