At today’s HLTH: Future of Healthcare conference in Las Vegas, CEO Paul Markovich spoke at a session on “Driving System Transformation: Teaming up for Change.” Paul discussed the strong demand for change in healthcare administration across the spectrum, and shared new ways that health plans and other companies can bring health care into the digital age through innovation and digital transformation.

This event marks the start of our 3-year, $750,000 “Make Time for Health” program created in partnership with the American Heart Association, which provides resources and education to support and inspire grade school students to maintain healthy lifestyles.

He also discussed how our latest innovations in Medi-Cal aim to address the social determinants of health and combat the opioid crisis.

At today’s Northern California State of Reform Health Policy Conference, Director of Clinical Pharmacy Program Salina Wong took part in a panel on “Opioids: The System-Generated American Epidemic,” which discussed fighting the opioid epidemic with new approaches to pain care and management. This includes programs like our Narcotics Safety Initiative, which has reduced opioid use among our members with non-cancer pain by 42% since 2015, and remains on track to hit our goal of a 50% reduction by the end of 2018.
