May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to recognize and prioritize the importance of mental health in our lives. At Brightview, we know that mental health is just as important as physical health, and we must work together to break the stigma and provide support to those who need it. Through individual action and professional resources, there are steps we can take to positively impact our mental health. Many factors that contribute to our mental health, such as our genetics, where we were born, etc., are out of our control, so this month, let's focus on the steps we can take to change our space, protect our well-being, and strengthen our mental health. Every May, our country celebrates Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month, honoring the history, culture, and countless contributions of our nation’s Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders. Why the month of May, you might ask? This month was chosen to highlight two key moments in Asian and Pacific Islander history: the commemoration of the first Japanese migration to the United States on May 7, 1843, and the completion of the transcontinental railroad, constructed primarily by Chinese immigrants, on May 10, 1869. This month we celebrate the rich history and culture of Asians and Pacific Islanders as we look forward to what's to come in the future.
