May we all take a moment to reflect and celebrate with our loved ones, as we open the door to a fresh start. Happy New Year from your CITY Furniture family!
On this #GivingTuesday, we’re grateful to announce that we exceeded our goal to give back five percent of annual profits in 2020. CITY’s 5% Giving Pledge is our way of supporting the community, by partnering with charities that align with our main pillars of home, health, service, diversity, and education. It’s our passion as a local business to take care of our neighbors, and it’s especially meaningful in this challenging year to do just that. #citycares
We are so grateful for our healthcare heroes and all they do for us! To show our appreciation, we updated Mercy Courtyard at Holy Cross Hospital, to provide a place for doctors, nurses, patients and families to relax outside. The adjustable umbrellas and outdoor setting make it easier to social distance and stay comfortable while doing it! Thank you, healthcare heroes. â¤ï¸
Today is America Recycles Day and here at CITY we do our part everyday. We recycle 98% of all operational waste using our very own recycling center in our warehouse. We’ve been able to achieve a lot through our efforts: all of our showrooms have mixed-use recycling dumpsters and each year we keep 6 million pounds of waste out of local landfills. We are strongly committed to our 2040 Green Promise of carbon-neutrality and we are dedicated to working toward it daily.
October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, which is a time to come together and celebrate the invaluable contributions that people with disabilities make in the workplace. As a company, we support and employ people with disabilities, and we are committed to creating a culture where everyone feels included. This year, we're sharing the story of Julie Herard, our Corporate Communications Designer, who is hearing impaired. Julie is a talented designer who contributes her all every day, and we wanted to know how CITY Furniture measured up in supporting her success. She said, "CITY has always been very accommodating to my needs, yet doesn't make me feel like I'm singled out. Thankfully I have great coworkers who help me understand, and a manager who will always squeeze in time to meet one-on-one."
We believe it's important to support the mental health of our Associates, as well as to create an open and accepting atmosphere. Therefore, as part of CITY Furniture’s Diversity & Inclusion and Wellness Programs, we're recognizing World Mental Health Day by making sure we have the resources available to address signs of stress by offering webinars with our insurance carrier and enrollment in a mindfulness app to help our Associates. ❤️
Our 2040 Green Promise is to run nearly all of our showrooms on renewable energy and eventually achieve carbon neutrality. CITY Furniture has six LEED-certified showrooms, which stands for Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design. In these showrooms, we have added more showroom space while reducing our electric use by 25%. We believe Energy Efficiency Day can be every day! #EEDay2020
The Pink Pumpkins have debuted at our showrooms! 🎃 💗 This very special display will be here through October to spread awareness about breast cancer and raise funds for the American Cancer Society. Find your nearest showroom here to see them in person > cityfurniture.com/find
We have more great news! We’re excited to share that CITY Furniture has won the South Florida Business Journal’s 2020 Business of the Year Award. This program honors companies that set the standard for growth, service, quality, innovation and execution of a superb business strategy. Thanks to our Associates who helped make this happen!
Every October we launch a month-long campaign to support breast cancer awareness. This year weâre honoring our CITY mom, Doreen Koenig, who courageously battled the disease, with a special tribute. The Pink Pumpkins honor her memory and help raise awareness and funds to put an end to breast cancer. You can help with a donation to the American Cancer Society right here > cancer.org/pinkpumpkins
