Changing consumer habits and preferences are causing a greater interest in a wider variety of fresh and frozen foods. Pharmaceutical companies need to ensure the potency of temperature-sensitive drugs and vaccines. Some components in the tech industry are temperature-sensitive for proper functioning. Increasing globalization means more products are shipped world-wide, with many requiring temperature-controlled environments no matter the distance. All of this is fueling an increased need and demand for cold (refrigerated or frozen) storage and transportation of food, pharmaceuticals and other temperature-sensitive products to ensure that products reach end users in optimum condition. The increased demand for frozen food, in particular, is driven by the number of consumers interested in cooking at home, seeking quick, convenient meals, perhaps exploring new international flavors, according to American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI). A recent survey from AFFI shows that more than a quarter of shoppers are buying more frozen fruits and vegetables than three years ago. AFFI also reports a growing consumer market for more healthy and organically sourced frozen foods, more plant-based frozen options, premium or gourmet frozen meal options with responsibly sourced ingredients and innovative flavors, and global ethnic frozen foods. Miles of Gratitude: CJ Logistics America joins in thanking nation’s professional truck drivers National Truck Driver Appreciation Week – September 10-16, 2023 – is a time to recognize America’s 3.5 million professional truck drivers for all they do. As American Trucking Associations, the national trade association for the trucking industry, points out, “Nearly every aspect of daily life is made possible because a truck driver delivered the goods and resources people need.” CJ Logistics America joins in appreciating and supporting truck drivers for their hard work and commitment to a demanding and important job. “Our nation’s professional truck drivers work hard delivering goods for Americans,” said Doug Smith, Group General Manager, CJ Logistics Transportation. “We welcome the opportunity to recognize these men and women for their dedication, perseverance and determination and thank them for all they do to keep the country’s supply chain moving every day.” An integrated global supply chain management company with a growing transportation business that includes expanded capabilities in brokerage, asset-based transportation and freight forwarding, CJ Logistics America knows how important drivers are. “We value the relationships we build with our carrier partners and our partners’ drivers, and we recognize the vital contributions of our drivers in ensuring customer needs are met,” said Brad Nuffer, SVP of Transportation.
A recent video shows how CJ Logistics America is partnering with Phantom Auto in deploying remotely operated forklifts to help employees be safer, more accurate and more productive in the warehouse environment. Instead of being physically located in the warehouse, drivers use Phantom Auto’s remote operation platform to remotely operate forklifts while sitting at a computer equipped with a steering wheel, pedals and other accessories. The key technology that is driving this change to the way warehouse employees work is ultra-low latency video-streaming software that gives the remote drivers real-time 360-degree sight and sound around a vehicle, plus the ability to communicate with employees in the warehouse via a two-way audio system. The lifts are outfitted with hi-resolution cameras, lidar and safety sensors, real-time networking, graphic overlays, and two-way audio systems to enhance safety and communication.
