The CRA All-Access Scholarship Program is back! We’re excited to announce the launch of the third annual CRA All-Access Scholarship Program! Applications are open from March 18 – April 25. Last year, we expanded the program globally to include both U.S. students entering their junior year of university and U.K. students entering their final year—reinforcing our commitment to increasing access to Business, Economics, and STEM. With 12 scholarships awarded at $5,000 each, we’re supporting students who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, community service, and financial need—helping them persist in their studies and explore career pathways in these fields. On this day in 1865, President Abraham Lincoln formally ratified the 13th Amendment of the Constitution, forever abolishing slavery and indentured servitude in the U.S. The ripple effects of that monumental act can still be felt today. National Freedom Day also marks the beginning of Black History Month, created in 1986 to shine a much-needed spotlight on the courage, achievements, and sacrifices the Black community has made—and its ongoing struggle for true equality. The infographic below highlights some encouraging trends, as well as some areas where more progress is needed—while offering helpful tips for how to honor Black history. At CRA, we believe it’s critically important to continually broaden our knowledge and understanding of our country’s past, both the heartening and the harrowing. It’s the only way we can create a better, more equitable world—and a future we can all be proud of.

Even when we’re engaging in some friendly inter-practice competition, we always looking to work up a sweat. Last Fall, our Chicago office hosted a series of open-gym basketball sessions, giving team members a chance to meet, bond, and work up a good sweat (thankfully, no one got dunked on). Big shoutout to our Chicago team for putting this together—and to everyone who participated!

At CRA, we are constantly striving to provide a workplace culture that is supportive, engaging, and fun. To generate greater insight into how we can create a more responsive, welcoming environment—and where we’re succeeding—CRA issues an annual Employee Experience Survey. One of our questions asked for descriptions of our journey to create a truly inclusive culture. Last year, “inclusive,” “culture,” and “diversity” were all prominent. This year, “supportive,” “empowering,” and “accepting” took center stage. For nearly a decade, we’ve worked closely with Horizons for Homeless Children, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit that helps improve the lives and prospects of homeless children and their families—addressing everything from homelessness and lack of access to early childhood education to exorbitant childcare cost and mental health issues. On October 27, Horizons held its 24th Annual Women’s Breakfast, which over 1,000 people attended. As it has in the past, CRA was honored to sponsor and attend this amazing, galvanizing event. Huge thanks to the entire Horizons team for making this a night to remember—and for all the incredible work they do.

In honor of National Pro Bono Week (Oct. 23-29), our Pro Bono Committee will be hosting an informational session this month for team members who are interested in learning more about the kind of work we do, and how to get involved. Committee members will talk about some of CRA’s recent pro bono work—part of the “Community Advancement” pillar of our broader environmental, social, and governance framework (the social part specifically). We believe that being a responsible business means giving back in ways that make a real impact in the communities where we work and live. Our pro bono program is a critical part of this broader mission. On behalf of the CRA team, we’d like to thank our Pro Bono Committee for their hard work and commitment.
