We reached a new milestone in our Plano campus expansion! We celebrated the 'Topping Out' of our new tower we are building with our patients and team members. This accomplishment is one of the many ways we’re committed to delivering world-class care to children in Plano and its surrounding communities for future generations.
Our pediatric psychology and neuropsychology teams provide support for patients and families throughout our hospital, caring for children and teens with a wide range of medical and psychiatric needs. These providers are an integral part of our patients' care. Join us in thanking this incredible team! #PsychologyWeek
We're grateful for our amazing occupational therapists who help our patients engage in meaningful activities such as achieving developmental milestones, self-care skills, education, work or social interactions. These skilled health care professionals set personalized goals for our patients and use specific intervention plans. Join us in recognizing our talented team! #OccupationalTherapyMonth
Meet Red Balloon League member Rachel. Her superpower is tenacious teamwork. As an oncology nurse, she defends and protects our patients every day. Read Rachel’s story of how she has spent the last decade working alongside a team of nurses who champion a team effort for kids to continue being kids – even in the hospital:
Our Plano Child Life team hosted their Teddy Bear Clinic yesterday which helps patients feel more comfortable at the hospital. Patients walk with their teddy bear through treatments similar to their own like triage, radiology, X-ray and surgery. All the teddy bears left feeling happy and healthy! Thank you to our Child Life team for creating this valuable experience for our patients. #ChildLifeMonth
Our selfless social work team members support our patients and their families, work collaboratively with medical teams to enhance positive outcomes, host therapeutic camps, train social work students and so much more. We're thankful for their passion and dedication to our patients and families. Help us show them love this #SocialWorkMonth!
Meet our nurse Tonya, who serves North Texas families as an after-hours triage nurse via phone. Her long-term aspiration is to teach clinicals to nursing students where she'll return to the bedside and empower future nurses. "My manager inspired me to continue my education! He helped me realize that it is never too late. And the opportunities provided by Children's Health helped to pave the way," says Tonya.
This Women’s History Month we're reflecting on how our origin ties back to one woman’s vision and tenacity. Public Health Nurse, May Forster Smith, led a group of volunteer nurses to organize the Dallas Baby Camp in 1913 which later became Children’s Medical Center Dallas. More than 100 years later, our 8,500+ team members — 78% of them women — continue to be inspired by Nurse Smith as we work to transform pediatric care in North Texas.
As we close out Black History Month and enter Women’s History Month, we want to take a moment to recognize just a few of the many incredible Black women who make us extraordinary. From direct patient and family care to leadership and collaboration, their contributions help create a culture where everyone feels welcome, valued and respected. They are #TheChildrensHealthDifference.
