For more than 85 years, we have worked together with Shell, building a partnership driven by a shared commitment to providing innovative energy solutions. That same spirit of partnership motivated the development and design of Progress, the largest U.S.-built and -flagged LNG bunker barge. Now in service at the Port of Savannah, Georgia, Progress is helping LNG-powered vessels operate more efficiently while reducing environmental impact and is a tangible example of how collaboration and innovation can advance cleaner, lower-impact shipping. In this video, our director of new construction & LNG engineering, Dean Sahr, takes us behind the scenes to share the expertise and teamwork that brought this project to life, while highlighting what it means to be part of a project that’s shaping the future of the maritime industry.
As power demand intensifies, businesses are looking for smarter, more sustainable energy solutions. In the recent issue of LNG Industry magazine, Crowley’s director of business development for advanced energy, Alberto Cordero, shares how microgrids are a scalable solution that enables reliability, resilience and operational efficiency. The article highlights how we are putting this vision into action with an LNG-powered microgrid at our Isla Grande Terminal in Puerto Rico, which will be used to power daily port operations, strengthen supply chains and provide greater energy stability for the surrounding community. Meet the “Twins”—the Nachik/DBL 165-1 and Sesok/DBL 165-2. Purpose-built to navigate the rugged Alaska coastline, these articulated tug-barges are designed to operate safely and reliably in shallow waters where access is limited and conditions can be challenging. With anchored fuel hoses and experienced crews, Crowley delivers critical energy supplies to remote communities like Unalakleet—located at the mouth of the Unalakleet River along the Norton Sound of the Bering Sea. Crowley and Nexans have partnered to develop and operate a first-of-its-kind, U.S.-built cable lay barge equipped with vertical injector technology. This Jones Act-compliant vessel will support offshore wind, telecommunications and other subsea sectors, delivering critical infrastructure for America’s energy expansion with American mariners.
We’re proud to share that Crowley Progress reached a major milestone on Sunday, June 15th, completing its 50th LNG bunker discharge. In under 10 months of operations, our crew has delivered over 340,000 m³ of LNG, all while standing up a brand-new operation in a new port. This achievement reflects Crowley’s core values: Safety: Zero lost-time incidents throughout these first 50 discharges Sustainability: Enabling cleaner marine fuel solutions for our customers Drive: Rapid ramp-up of a complex operation from day one A heartfelt thank you to the team whose resilience and determination have set the standard in LNG bunkering. Your commitment inspires us all.
We continue to empower communities through volunteerism. Crowley Cares, in partnership with our By Grace business resource group, led a volunteer initiative at COAR – La Comunidad de San Óscar Arnulfo Romero in hashtag#ElSalvador. Volunteers painted a community house and facilitated activities to develop soft skills and discuss the role of faith among local youths.
Maleeya McWhite turned early mentorship into a career with purpose. As a pricing analyst at Crowley, she brings insight, leadership and a passion for culture through her work in her profession and with Crowley’s BRIDGE business resource group. Reflecting on her journey, she explains, “I chose the logistics industry and Crowley because it’s about more than moving goods. It’s about connecting people, supporting global communities, and making a real impact behind the scenes. No matter where I go, I know I’m part of something bigger.” Learn more about her story in her recent Earn Up spotlight.
Crowley has been named a 2025-2026 Best Company to Work For not just in our industry, but across the board. This recognition by U.S. News & World Report for a consecutive year reflects what we’ve built with our people: engagement and growth. Across the board, we received high marks for work-life balance, stability and a culture of belonging. However, it’s not just about the title -- it’s about the pride we take in our people and purpose.
On Junior Achievement of North Florida’s recent Day of the Girl, 170+ students explored logistics through a hands-on workshop led by our Women Empowered business resource group. From farm to shelf, young girls learned how supply chains move the world, while we helped shape tomorrow’s talent with learning led by women excelling in our industry. While immersing themselves in the role of logistics companies, the students gained hands-on experience in transportation, global trade and teamwork. One student shared their excitement: “I liked the Crowley workshop. We got to learn how things go from one place to the next, and we got chocolate!” The enthusiasm highlights the impact of blending education with real-world applications and sweet surprises.
