Improving IV Placement for Patients
Marina wasn’t always interested in a health care career. In fact, she first began at Duke Health as a food service contractor in 2015. Being around Duke Health radiologists as a contractor influenced her decision to change professions and pursue radiology. Now, Marina works with us as a full-time radiologic technologist. We’re grateful to be a part of her career journey and we look forward to supporting Marina as she continues to learn and grow in her new role. When Mollie started at Duke Health, she was eager to be a part of the far-reaching health system she’d wanted to join since nursing school. Over the course of her first few years with us, Mollie felt empowered to explore different positions and build new skills across our system. Last year, Mollie made the switch from in-patient care to home care so that she could form a deeper connection with patients. Pivoting to a New Path in Health Care
All it took was one rotation at Duke University Hospital for Michael to know he would be welcomed personally and challenged professionally here. Years later, he’s still finding new opportunities to grow within the respiratory field. When Vida joined Duke Health a decade ago, she wanted to continue serving others after providing care as a nurse to patients in Ghana. She opted not only to build on her Ghana nursing education at Duke, but obtain the proper licensure for nurses trained outside the United States by first taking a housekeeping job at Duke Health. But, she says, that job gave her access to resources to pursue her calling to care in the U.S. and a sense of fulfillment knowing that she was creating a safe and clean environment for patients. Fast forward to today, with the support of her team and benefits at Duke Health, Vida has obtained the licensure, and degrees and certifications necessary to begin practicing as a nurse with us. But it’s not just the professional growth that has made a difference in her life – she’s also found a community that has supported her personally throughout life’s major milestones.
