Transparentem recently disclosed a multi-year investigation into labor conditions at three Myanmar garment factories. Their work addressed child labor, hazardous working conditions, and the difficult subject of audit deception. The disclosure concludes, “The growth of Myanmar’s garment industry, prior to the emergence of the pandemic, represented a moment of opportunity for hundreds of thousands of Burmese workers. As the COVID-19 crisis exacerbates the existing vulnerabilities among the workforce in Myanmar, much is left to be done to ensure that progress is sustainable. Nhi Ngo, our Coordinator at Elevate, is based in Vietnam and she has won our High Five Award recently to recognize her great contributions in Assessment division. “The High Five Award Program” is the global employee recognition program that aims to recognize the employees who have excellent and outstanding achievements in creating positive business results and long-term impacts in ELEVATE. Nhi has been performed extraordinary well when she started supporting the region as a lead coordinator role of South & Southeast Asia. The Covid-19 pandemic has amplified the ways in which migrant worker's rights to wages have long been violated.
