Earlier this month, the Gas Business took time to celebrate the success of their employees in Connecticut and Massachusetts working safely. Wow! What a team! During the work day, coworkers may give each other a pen, a stapler, or even a plastic fork for lunch, but one employee recently gave something much more valuable to a colleague. Ken Pefine gave his kidney to Matt Knowles. “It was a no brainer for me,” said Ken, a gas employee based in Somerville. Ken and Matt work together in our natural gas unit. They met nearly 14 years ago—now, they have a special bond. “Matt is a good person and empowering him was important to me. He’d already been through a lot and I just really wanted to help,” Ken added. The surgery was a success. What an amazing story!
