Every year Amy Palumbo spends about 1,000 hours volunteering with the Farmington Community Chest. The nonprofit social services organization provides programs supporting basic human services, education and other social needs. “It’s such a great organization and provides a vital safety net for people in the community,” said Amy, a Revenue Requirements Analyst in Berlin. For the past 5 years, Amy has helped organize numerous services and programs that run the gamut, from services for the elderly, to giving out general college and vocational trade scholarships for students, and planning of outdoor movie nights. In honor of National Volunteer Week, we’re proud to recognize employees like Amy who empower their communities by going above and beyond.
“The best part about coaching little league is working with the kids and seeing their skills grow,” said Senior Forecast Analyst, Tim Kirchman. “By the end of the season you see a group of kids come together as a team and cheer for each other. That’s very enjoyable and gratifying.” Tim has been volunteering with Parkway Little League West Roxbury/Roslindale for the past two years. His 11-year-old son William also plays in the league. In honor of National Volunteer Week, we’re proud to recognize employees like Tim who empower their communities by going above and beyond
“Volunteering in the community makes a direct impact. All the little individual efforts in the end add up to something big,” said Arborist Brian Salas of Barnstead, who devoted 15 years to serving as a baseball coach and Scout leader, and participated in a number of Eversource’s community service projects this year. During #NationalVolunteerWeek, we’re proud to recognize all our employees, like Brian, who are working for a better tomorrow.
Today is National Lineworker Appreciation Day As part of National Lineworker Appreciation Day, Eversource proudly salutes the men and women of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA), who keep the power flowing to our customers every day. Our skilled and experienced lineworkers maintain our distribution and transmission networks, work day and night in all types of conditions, and serve the neighborhoods where we work and live—providing reliable and safe access to the energy our customers need. In 2013, the U.S. Senate passed a resolution designating April 18 as National Lineworker Appreciation Day to honor the brave men and women who protect public safety by keeping the power flowing. Edison Electric Institute (EEI) honors line workers with their own National Lineworker Appreciation Day on July 10. Here’s a brief video thanking our lineworkers http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQfF6
“Community service has always been an important part of my life,” said Associate Engineer Ezra Tucker, who regularly participated in service projects as a Boy Scout, then with campus clubs and organizations while attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. “I like to be involved in my community, and I have really enjoyed the opportunities Eversource has provided to do that.” In honor of #NationalVolunteerWeek, we’re proud to recognize employees like Ezra who are working together for a better tomorrow and going above and beyond for their communities.
When Bill Shea isn’t up in a bucket truck or working on utility poles, he’s putting his energy into the Special Olympics – supporting his daughter Brie who’s an avid Special Olympian. She competes in swimming, running and cycling, and her dad is by her side for every lap and mile. “I want to be there to support my daughter for everything she does and she loves playing sports,” said Bill, who has been a lineworker for the past 18 years. “Special Olympics does so much good work, I’m just happy I can help in any way I can.” In honor of National Volunteer Week, we’re proud to recognize employees like Bill who are working together for a better tomorrow and going above and beyond for their communities.
No project is too big or too dirty for our volunteers! A group of them spent the morning digging and filling a trench for the electrical service line for a future building with Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity. We always enjoy serving the neighborhoods where we work and live, and had a fun time helping out.
Boxes upon boxes of food were sorted and filled at Worcester County Food Bank yesterday with the help of our volunteers! They enjoy serving the neighborhoods where we work and live.
In celebration of National Volunteer Week this week, we’re recognizing some of our amazing employees who go above and beyond to help others. Whether it’s sorting food at local pantries, cleaning up walking trails in community parks, or building a home with Habitat for Humanity—our employees do it all. They enjoy serving the neighborhoods where we work and live and we’re proud of them!
