Recently our employees attended Fortera's quarterly All Staff meeting at Fortera Stadium. These meetings give employees a chance to get together to meet new team members, reconnect with old friends and enjoy a delicious breakfast. Besides regular updates on our financials, current projects and future goals, Austin Peay's head football coach, Mark Hudspeth, was a special guest speaker. Coach Hudspeth took time out to talk to Forterians about the importance of teamwork and how it translates into success both on and off the field. It was inspiring and provided all of us with a mid-year energy boost and a renewed commitment to each other and our core values.
Fortera Credit Union is proud to partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville as a sponsor of the school-based mentoring program at Burt Elementary! Whether it be joining in field day festivities or the "Bigs" taking their "Littles" on a field trip to the Bi-County Solid Waste facility in Clarksville, our employees are happy to be positive role models and mentors to their Littles and spend time with them throughout the school year.
Fortera is a proud Gold Sponsor of “Prepped for Success” - a joint partnership with United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region and Clarksville-Montgomery County School System Education Foundation to provide 10,000 bags of school supplies for economically disadvantaged children. 43 Fortera team members volunteered to fill the bags, earning the event’s “Most Volunteers” award! Fortera has cultivated a culture of servicing our community and that comes from our We Serve Core Value.
#WorldAutismAwarenessDay is about showing support for increasing understanding & acceptance of people with autism and creating a more inclusive world. One in every 59 children will be diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, a disorder that can take on many different characteristics. On April 2nd the Fortera team took on the #LightItUpBlue pledge.
For the second year in a row, Fortera Credit Union is proud to “Read United” with United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region and the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. This virtual volunteer program connects young learners with volunteers in the community. Using video conferencing technology, students and volunteers take turns reading to each other for 20-30 minutes each week. The innovative opportunity encourages a love of reading, enhances student reading proficiency and develops valuable communication skills. Thank you to the Fortera employees who participated this semester!
On President’s Day while Fortera was closed to its member, our employees were at Austin Peay State University participating in Fortera’s 4th Annual Culture Day! During this event, Fortera’s employees came together to play games and participate in fun activities designed to reinforce our core values. We worked as “One Team” and made a tower out of cups; we worked “Better, Simpler and Faster” to get the most Oreos from our foreheads into our mouths; “We Served” our community by stuffing fuel bags for local school children; we “Stayed Positive and Had Fun” with Hungry Hungry Humans (which is like Hungry Hungry Hippos but with a lot more chaos); and used Celebrity Match Game to “Learn and Teach” more about our fellow Forterians. The day was a blast and gave everyone a chance to recommit and reenergize for the coming year.
It was a night of fun, games, and awards as the Fortera team bowled in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bankers Challenge. To top it off, we took home the "Most Manpower" award for being the financial organization with the most employees who volunteer as Big Brothers or Big Sisters to children in the program. We love to serve our community and are proud to partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
On #WomensDay, Fortera celebrates the amazing women of Fortera as well as the extraordinary women around the world who have changed and are changing history.
March 1st was First Friday at APSU and the Fortera Street Team was there with tips for a safe and budget friendly spring break.
On February 1st, many Fortera employees were wearing red in support of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign! This campaign was originally launched in 2004 to raise awareness for women's heart health. This year, on the campaign's 15th anniversary, the American Heart Association is adding to their focus. According to the Go Red website, "It's no longer just about wearing red; it's no longer just about sharing heart health facts. It's about all women making a commitment to stand together with Go Red and taking charge of their own heart health as well as the health of those they can't bear to live without."
