This World Health Day, we’re celebrating those making a meaningful impact on healthcare and contributing to a better world. At GE HealthCare, we’re committed to driving change. Heart disease affects millions of people each year, yet its impact is often underestimated, particularly among women. To raise awareness this American Heart Health Month, we’re spotlighting two incredible women whose journeys highlight the importance of awareness, advanced technology, and compassionate care when it comes to heart health. Nicole’s story: At just 23, Nicole Grehn survived a sudden cardiac arrest, coding 78 times before doctors saved her life using innovative monitoring tools and advanced care. Despite losing both legs to septic shock, Nicole’s resilience pushed her to pursue a career in nursing. Now, she works in the very hospital that saved her, helping others navigate their own health journeys. Sarah’s story: At 29, civil rights attorney Sarah Watson had a heart attack just weeks before her wedding. Thanks to diagnostic tools like echocardiograms and expert care, she recovered in time to walk down the aisle. Today, Sarah is a heart health advocate, encouraging women, especially young women of color, to trust their instincts and seek care. Advanced cardiac ultrasound and software innovations play a critical role in diagnosing and managing heart conditions, enabling clinicians to deliver precise, life-saving, compassionate care.
