Can you outsmart big weather with a board game? #TeamGEI’s Rebecca Verity, Cindy Tejeda, and Rachael Orellana, PE, MS, MEd certainly make a case in their new article for the Floodplain Management Association's latest newsletter, The High Water Mark. They outline the benefits of That Dam Game, a creative board game developed by a team at GEI in partnership with Yuba Water Agency and with input from the US Army Corps of Engineers. Used at several conferences and events, the game places players in various scenarios involving dams in which they must collaborate, strategize, and plan ahead to win the game. #TeamGEI’s George Onorato, P.E. Onorato is heading to Yokohama, Japan, for Deep Mixing 2024! He’ll be delivering a special lecture on the recently published Deep Foundations Institute research project he co-authored with Giovanni Bonita, Ph.D, P.E., P.Eng., P.G. This DFI-sponsored study explores the groundbreaking results of a multi-year investigation into the effects of curing stresses on the strength of deep-mixing materials. As the U.S. representative, George will also provide an update on the current practice of deep soil mixing in North America, highlighting key trends and innovations. On Day 2, George will join Discussion Session 2 to present on the specialized equipment utilized to simulate overburden stresses, providing deeper insights into this pivotal research. George looks forward to engaging with #foundations and #geotechnicalengineering experts from around the globe! 🌏 #DeepMix2024
