It is "WHY I LOVE H2M" Wednesday! Meet Walter J. Ackermann, Jr., P.E. , a project engineer in the Civil Discipline at our Melville office. Walter is a board member for H2M's Young Professionals Employee Resource Group, he has participated in the ACE mentoring program as well as participated on our Canstruction team and played in the softball league. When asked what he loves most about his position, Walter told us: "I enjoy the variety of projects and challenges that I get the opportunity to work on. No two projects are ever the same and it keeps the days interesting to come across design challenges that I've never seen before. H2M Project Spotlight - Parsons Memorial Elementary School Preserves History while Improving Accessibility H2M architects + engineers designed Parsons Memorial Elementary School’s building addition utilizing stone from the same quarry mined for the original building in 1898. Included in the addition is a multifunctional cafeteria and kitchen to accommodate the growing student population, and an elevator that improved accessibility. The featured stonework is an example of how prioritizing the history of a building, while also acknowledging modern needs, can create an opportunity to embrace a community in design. #architecture #design #architects #school
