Project Spotlight: Water Authority of Western Nassau County (WAWNC) Emergency PFAS Removal Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) are a group of man-made chemicals that include PFOA, PFOS, Gen X, and many other chemicals. PFAS can be found in many products and materials and cause a wide range of health problems. In February 2020, the Environmental Protection Agency announced it would begin regulating PFOA and PFOS under the PFAS Action Plan. H2M has actively investigated several treatment technology options and designed, permitted, and installed public water supply treatment facilities in full compliance with State PFAS drinking water regulations. Recently, the WAWNC had H2M address their treatment of PFAS at Station No. 44. Read more about the project here: https://www.h2m.com/project-spotlight-wawnc-emergency-pfas-removal/ One of the lead engineers on this project was Max Grabinski, E.I.T. who has been with H2M for four years. Since 1951 this event has served as a showcase for the many exciting contributions engineers have made to our society. This week we will be celebrating our engineers at H2M architects engineers' and why they love their profession. Today, we introduce Rachel Kim, P.E..
