H2M architects engineers' Meghan Polhemus and Rachel Kim, P.E. had a chance to meet with some members of the Girls in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) club from Morristown High School (MHS) to have a candid chat about applying to and surviving college, choosing a career path, how they ended up in water resource engineering, and empowering girls to pursue STEM. The Girls in STEM club at MHS was founded by Dr. Mariel Kolker, EdD, an engineer-turned-educator, who is passionate about closing the gender gap in STEM. After the call, Dr. Kolker asked the attendees to provide feedback. One of the students commented: “Something I found interesting was how the two speakers ended up with jobs they didn't really expect, and throughout college they changed their aspirations and were able to realize the career they wanted.” #H2M #STEM #womeninengineering #waterresources #waterengineering #careers
H2M architects engineers is proud to announce that we made year end donations totaling $50,000 to four well-deserving charities. Each year, H2M is heavily involved with philanthropic groups and we take pride in our long history of giving back. Whether it’s on a corporate scale, or an employee level, we understand the importance of making community service a priority. While there are usually a number of events to show support for certain causes throughout the year, 2020 proved to be a little different. Following a year full of so much struggle, we were extremely humbled and grateful to begin this new year with a virtual gathering where we presented checks to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention; Homeless Solutions, Inc.; Long Island Cares, Inc | The Harry Chapin Food Bank, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. #H2M #community #givingback #givingbacktothecommunity #feelgoodfriday
