We’re proud to share that Hannaford has been recognized as a Top Employer in the U.S. for the second year in a row by the Top Employers Institute. The recognition reflects our ongoing effort to strengthen our people practices and create a better experience for every associate. It’s especially meaningful this year, as our improved results came from thoughtful, intentional changes driven directly by feedback from our teams. This achievement belongs to our associates. Thank you for your commitment, your ideas and the way you support one another every day. We’re excited about this progress and are more motivated than ever to keep moving forward for our associates, our customers and the communities we serve.
In honor of National Nutrition Month, we’re celebrating by giving back to our communities. Through our “Eat Well, Be Well – A Path to Better Health” program, we’re donating $1.3 million to advance child health and wellness – helping families thrive by increasing access to healthy food and nutrition education for the next generation
We’re proud to partner with the Immigrant Welcome Center in Portland to offer English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes to our associates in the Greater Portland region. These customized classes allow our non-native English-speaking associates to learn the language as well as phrases related to working in our stores. Pictured here is our first class of recent graduates! We look forward to continuing to offer these classes and bringing to life our aspiration to be the most welcoming place to work and shop.
As we approach Veterans Day, we salute the service people in our communities who have willingly sacrificed for the benefit of our country. We’re proud to partner with dedicated community organizations like the @Travis-Mills-Foundation, who support recalibrated veterans and their families through various programs. Founder and president of the Foundation, U.S. Army SSG (Ret.) Travis Mills, says, “Hannaford continuously steps up to support the Foundation’s largest events, including the Plane Pull at Portland Jetport in October and Miles for Mills in May. Whether Hannaford associates are volunteering at our Veterans Retreat or supporting community events by donating food and water to fuel our efforts, Hannaford is always there, supporting the important mission of the Travis Mills Foundation.” It’s a small way we can say “thank you” to the heroic people who serve our country.
From the brands we carry, to the associate stories we tell, to the ways we break language barriers, we're proud to recognize and celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month in our communities. The magic of this month comes to life through the remarkable contributions of associates like Rosa Santiago, a native Puerto Rican who teaches English in our Waltham, MA store in her spare time. Learn more about Rosa and the way she contributes to our aspiration to be the most welcoming place to work and shop: #NationalHispanicHeritageMonth

Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month Sept. 15 - Oct. 15 Mike Vail, President I’m privileged to officially kick off the celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month in our stores and in our communities this month - and when I say celebration, I really mean it. The contributions our Hispanic and Latino associates have made to our organization and our communities are incredible and worthy of our month-long recognition, but also every day of the year. I’m also excited to recognize our Hispanic and Latino minority-owned suppliers we’re championing this month as we continue the important work of highlighting and expanding the diversity of product representation in our stores. Continuing our energizing efforts to highlight and support diversity, equity and inclusion, I’m excited that we’ll be introducing our customers to associate Betty Rivera from our Walden, New York store. Betty, a Front End Lead and a member of our Mosaic Business Resource Group, For more ways to celebrate with us, visit https://www.hannaford.com/inspiration/hispanic-heritage-month
