To help meet the growing need for healthcare services for Medicare beneficiaries, individuals, and families in Colorado, Select Health® announced this week the addition of AdventHealth to its Select Health provider network. This collaboration provides enhanced access to quality healthcare for consumers throughout Colorado. Access to this new provider network is effective January 1, 2024. The collaboration with AdventHealth represents a strategic effort by Select Health to broaden its provider networks statewide and offer members an expanded range of healthcare services. With AdventHealth joining as a new provider, Select Health members will benefit from increased choices, options, and access to specialized care, ensuring they receive the comprehensive services and care they need. "The addition of AdventHealth into our already robust network of providers illustrates our long-term commitment to healthcare in Colorado,” said Curt Howell, market president of the Peaks Region for Select Health, which includes Colorado. The annual Festival of Trees – a beloved Utah Holiday Tradition – will ring in the holiday season Nov. 29 through Dec. 2, with hundreds of beautiful holiday items handmade to benefit children in need at Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital and beyond. A treasured tradition of 53 years, the Festival of Trees is presented by the Intermountain Foundation and brought to life by a dedicated 80-member community volunteer board. All funds raised support Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital mission to provide care to children in need, as part of Intermountain Health’s Primary Promise to create the nation’s model health system for children. “We’re very grateful to our dedicated volunteers, and for the continued community support of Festival of Trees that helps us meet the growing, more complex needs of children by strengthening and expanding the expertise of Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital,” said Katy Welkie, chief executive officer of Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital and vice president of Intermountain Children’s Health.

After 40 years as the voice and face of sports in Montana, Chris Byers had no plans to step away from his love of telling the stories of Montana athletes. When Byers was told that he would need to have surgery to repair heart valve stenosis, he worried about what was next. He was excited to learn that St. Vincent in Billings, MT now offers a minimally invasive heart valve replacement that would allow him to get back to what he loves to do, and have the procedure done close to home. Byers underwent a successful valve replacement procedure but had a rare and unexpected complication that caused fluid to develop in his lungs, putting him in a critical situation. Byers would need to be put on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO to allow his heart and lungs to heal. St. Vincent recently developed the expertise and care to provide this critical service at the hospital. Instead of being flown out of state, Byers spent the next week in the Intensive Care Unit under the care of local medical professionals and surrounded by the support of family and friends. After finishing up his cardiac rehab, Chris is back at the news desk and calling live sports. He is incredibly grateful for the care he received and the ability to heal close to his home and family. He is especially thankful for St. Vincent's investments in critical and heart care that allowed him to be treated in Billings.

For the second consecutive year, the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) has awarded Intermountain Health's hospitals and clinics in Utah with its highest designation as part of the organization’s Digital Health Most Wired survey for 2023. Intermountain is one of only 21 hospital systems in the nation to receive a Level 10 designation from CHIME, which recognizes excellence in healthcare technology innovation for patient care. Level 10 organizations, like Intermountain, are using technology in intelligent and creative ways to improve all aspects of healthcare. Using data and technology in innovative ways has led to the study and implementation of “big picture” strategies for healthcare such as patient experience, data management, population health, and infrastructure. “This designation demonstrates our dedication to improving the experience of patients and communities,” said Craig Richardville, chief digital and information officer for Intermountain. “We are setting a high standard for healthcare technology and making a big difference in the way care is provided to our patients. We’ve worked together like a championship-winning team, and we’re ready to keep improving our digital health game.”

Children will have better access to expert care, thanks to a Utah County family’s $10 million gift to Intermountain Health’s Primary Promise, and the new Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital, Larry H. and Gail Miller Family Campus in Lehi. Blake and Sandy Modersitzki and their family have provided a $10 million gift to help build the Miller Family Campus, which will enhance access to expert specialty pediatric care throughout this expansive and growing region when it opens early next year. The Modersitzkis come from generations of family committed to the health and wellbeing of others, from those who help, and those who’ve been helped. “As soon as our family learned about Primary Promise and, specifically, the Miller Family Campus in Lehi, we and our daughters were moved to put our full support behind it,” Sandy Modersitzki said. “We wanted to give to Primary Children’s now to help address the urgent needs of children and families in our community today. This is an absolute treasure being placed in our backyard, and our hope is that this gift encourages every surrounding business and family in a position to do so to join us in making a mark on future generations here.”

We're proud to have 3 Intermountain Health caregivers make the list! “Utah’s rural healthcare workforce keeps the hearts of these communities beating,” said Ashley Moretz, director of the DHHS Health Access Division. “It’s my pleasure to recognize these exemplary rural healthcare workers in honor of National Rural Health Day. One of Nayel's missions as a lead medical assistant is to help patients feel like family. She does this by providing patients with the same care she would want for her family. When she heard about the Clinical Development Team's (CDT) goal to improve blood pressure rechecks to help diagnose and prevent hypertension, she created a process at our Heart & Vascular Institute in Brighton, CO to ensure patients were receiving a second blood pressure check, if necessary, so they were leaving the clinic with the knowledge they needed to live a healthy and happy life.
