As part of our contributions to #ESG, our employees across Spain and Ireland are taking action to build a more sustainable future within their communities. In Spain, Jazz employees are planting lavender in their personal gardens to protect bee habitats and encourage healthy ecosystems. Meanwhile, team members in Ireland maintain a section of the Shannon River and monitor water quality through sample testing in a retention pond, as well as manage a bee hotel (pictured) and bird nesting boxes. This #EarthDay and beyond, we strive to support our planet by decreasing our environmental impact and raising awareness of ways that we can #InvestInOurPlanet for a more sustainable world.

Mary’s Story: Providing Long Term Care to a Loved One A caregiver is a person who provides unpaid care to someone living with a chronic illness, disability or other long-lasting health or care need, outside a professional or formal framework. They are often partners, family members, friends or neighbors, and the psychological burden of the role they play can be immense. We spoke to Mary who shared her experience as a long-term caregiver to her husband Mark. He has been living with essential tremor (ET) for more than 40 years and recently shared his personal story with Jazz.

Last month, the Jazz team brought Nothing Small About It into the local community for the first time ever at the Lung Cancer Research Foundation’s Free to Breathe Walk in Chicago, where we shared the program directly with small cell #lungcancer (SCLC) patients and caregivers. During #LungCancerAwarenessMonth, we’ll be showing up in more communities across the U.S. to continue to increase awareness and provide support for people impacted by SCLC. #LCAM

Mark’s Story: While Mark has been living with essential tremor (ET) for more than 40 years, his condition has grown progressively worse for the last three decades, creating significant problems in his day-to-day life. As a middle school teacher, he found it increasingly challenging to complete simple tasks, like writing on the board or grading papers. ET — the most common movement disorder in the U.S. characterized by involuntary shaking or trembling most often in the hands or arms — affects more than ten million people in the U.S.1,2 In addition to significant daily disruptions, the condition can also impact a person’s social interactions.1

Reflecting on Our Progress in Blood Cancer At Jazz, we are committed to addressing the needs of patients living with difficult to treat blood diseases and cancers who have limited treatment options. As we honor the many individuals around the world impacted by blood cancers during Blood Cancer Awareness Month, I find myself reflecting on and feeling deep pride in the commitment of my colleagues at Jazz. We believe all people, particularly those with difficult, complex conditions, deserve to get the best chances to defeat their cancer and live a happy and healthy life—and that conviction shapes every decision we make.

Exploring the Cardiovascular Burden of Narcolepsy The onset of cardiovascular events and risk factors is high among those living with narcolepsy, even among patients who do not have a history of these cardiovascular conditions. As a result, patients’ physicians need to consider cardiovascular risks when considering treatment plans for those living with the sleep disorder.1 These are the conclusions of the CardioVascular Burden Of Narcolepsy Disease (CV-BOND) study that Rami H. Ben-Joseph, Ph.D., head of big data real world evidence at Jazz, recently presented at the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Annual Meeting 2022.
