It’s International Women’s Day and today we celebrate all amazing women around the world! This day marks an important call to action for accelerating gender equality. We at KONE believe that we are only as strong as we are diverse and inclusive. “It's important to celebrate this day as we remember how different life experiences have been for our mothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers. I'm so grateful for the opportunities I've had in my career because of those women who fought for gender equality,” says Whitney Phillmann, General Manager, Service & Solutions at KONE.

How do you recycle an entire building? 🤔 We believe that one day it will be possible, and it starts with a change in mindset from discard to circular. Working in partnership with the Opera de Lyon and local online sourcing agents, we launched a pioneering dismantling and replacement process, where five elevators were meticulously disassembled, and components were identified for potential reuse. Working around opera rehearsals and live performances, the team hand-collected and itemized materials that normally would have been discarded as waste but were instead selected for a potential second life: ♻️ materials ranging from ornate lamps to electrical boards ♻️ more than three kilometers of cables ♻️ overall 100 components Find out more about the Opéra National de Lyon project:
