The Mastery Principal Fellowship is a highly selective one-year program designed to strengthen and diversify Mastery’s principal pipeline by supporting current assistant principals on their journey to become future Mastery leaders. Nancy Marie Gilliam is a former Mastery Parent Action Team (MPAT) leader who played a pivotal advocacy role for the network while her children attended Shoemaker Campus. Now an alumni parent, Nancy continues to channel her passion for activism into impactful work beyond the Mastery community through her art. Her play “The Bookstore,” about the owner of Harlem’s iconic Liberation Bookstore, is currently up for a Pulitzer Prize in the drama category. Click below to learn more:

Amyia Topping, a twelfth grader at Shoemaker Campus, has been awarded the highly competitive QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship. The full-ride scholarship will cover direct costs, including tuition, fees, and housing, and she will receive additional funding to cover the costs of books, travel, and personal expenses. At Mastery Schools, students are encouraged to pursue postsecondary pathways of their choice, whether a two—or four-year college, a trade school, the armed forces, or direct entry into the workforce. For Mastery High School of Camden (MHSC) students interested in direct entry into the workforce, a specialized development program is preparing them to work in fields with career longevity and family-sustaining wages. As dean of students at Mastery High School of Camden and the girls' basketball coach, Darold Hayes inspires students to dream big and aim higher. Acknowledging that Black male educators play a crucial role in shaping futures and inspiring the next generation, the Camden Education Fund sponsored 20 educators, including Hayes, to attend the Black Men in Education Convening (BMEC) in Philadelphia. This powerful event brought together thousands of Black male educators, creating a space for them to learn, connect, and find shared purpose.
