2024 was a wonderfully fulfilling year of giving back for Mercy employees. Check out some of our highlights.
We Are 150 Retrospective
In celebration of Mercy Medical Center’s 150th anniversary, the hospital recently hosted a community fair for Mercy employees and their families. Several hundred attended, enjoying live music, DJ Purnell and His Dynamic Dancers, food stations, photo booth, children’s activities like face painting and caricature artists, food trucks from Taharka Brothers, Crazy Puddings, and Deddle’s Mini-Donuts, and more. In addition, Mercy employees were recognized for donating 5,000+ hours of community volunteer efforts with “community partners in mission” throughout the 2024, such as B’more for Healthy Babies, Point Discovery Children’s Museum, Ronald McDonald House, First Fruits Farm, Our Daily Bread, Marian House, etc., as well as holding collections for the Mount Royal Elementary Middle School, taking part in the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade, etc.
We Are 150 Mercy Family Community Celebration
Mercy has been named to Forbes' inaugural list of "America's Dream Employers"! Students identified their "dream employers" and how excited they would be to receive an offer from them. Employee respondents evaluated their employers based on criteria including salary and workplace flexibility The 2025 list featured 500 organizations, of which 46 were hospitals and health systems. Forbes partnered with Statista to survey more than 10,000 U.S. college students and more than 140,000 employees across various industries.

We are so pleased that Loyola University Maryland's new Bachelor of Science in Nursing has received approval from the Maryland Board of Nursing "The program, which is scheduled to launch in Fall 2025, has already been recommended for implementation by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC). The program will be run through a partnership with Mercy Medical Center, which will provide clinical placements at Mercy’s downtown Baltimore campus, in addition to other resources and support."
Loyola's New Bachelor of Science in Nursing program receives approval from Maryland Board of Nursing
As a part of the We Are 150 Employee Engagement Initiative, Mercy partnered with M&T Bank for three separate days of service at Our Daily Bread, Maryland’s largest hot meal program for those experiencing hunger in Baltimore City. Volunteers served 400 individuals on each day of service by setting up lunch materials, organizing food stations, and plating meals. Our Daily Bread serves more than 250,000 individuals annually.
