At Morgan our community isn't limited to our colleagues, but every person who is linked to our employees. When the pandemic first hit, many of our people moved to working from home; meaning a very big change in the day-to-day colleagues they were used to spending time with. For some that was partners or children, for others it was their pets. Which is where our Pets of Morgan community started. Sonja, from our Windsor team, explains why she set up Pets of Morgan: "I set up the group to connect with other animal lovers across Morgan, since we are all working remotely, and to highlight how caring for an animal can impact positively on our mental health. The pandemic has separated us all physically, but somehow connected us, as we have shared details of our home working environments with each other. My pets have enjoyed having me at home more, and often spend their entire day with me. I hope to see the Group membership grow over time!"
Raising awareness of energy saving measures; both inside the site and at home; is a great way to change all of our behaviours. At our Carbo Chile site, the team launched an energy awareness competition based around the slogan "If this World you want to conserve, the Light that you do not use, you must turn off". The team had great fun taking part, with three of our colleagues coming in joint first and winning some fantastic energy-efficient prizes; not to mention the LED bulbs each participant received too! A fun and engaging way to learn about sustainability and put that learning in to action!
Keeping our people safe is our number one priority. To reach our ultimate goal of zero harm across our business, will we seek to achieve a 0.10 lost time accident rate by 2030.
We believe in always conducting ourselves in an ethical way. This means not only do we obey the law everywhere we operate, we also do not commit bribery or corruption, we avoid conflicts of interest and we trade and compete ethically. Learn more on how we work.
When it comes to environmental improvements, small changes can have a big impact. During planned work, our Stourport team identified a water savings opportunity in our automated ball-mill cleaning system. The team have implemented a reduction in the time interval between the flushing operation, saving an estimated 4 million litres of water per year! Another step closer to our environmental goals- thank you to the team!
The culture at Morgan is underpinned by our code. We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards. This dictates how we do business. Find out more about the Morgan code.
"Our impact as a business is not limited to the production of materials. Our products directly benefit the environment by making the operations of our customers significantly more energy efficient. We directly enable solar and wind energy, and we produce a wide range of products to help our customers operate efficient high temperature processes, from ceramic and glass manufacture to high efficiency industrial gas turbines. We provide good jobs for people and we work to make a positive contribution to the communities in which we operate." Pete Raby, CEO
This month our teams completed further training on our Code. Designed to equip each of them with the knowledge they need in any ethical dilemma, the training is focused on encouraging our colleagues to engage in open communication on ethical questions or concerns at work. Working Safely and Ethically is fundamental to the way we do business, which is why educating our people on ethics best practice is key!
