NASCAR took home honors for “Sports Event of the Year” for the first-ever Chicago Street Race during the 2024 Sports Business Awards, a ceremony hosted by Sports Business Journal in New York City last evening to celebrate the best in sports business over the past year. The award, which highlights the most outstanding events in sports, was recognition for one of the most ambitious events in NASCAR history. NASCAR, the Chicago Street Race and Chicago Public Schools hosted 600 students at the second-annual STEAM Fest at the Field Museum in downtown Chicago last week. Following a two-month, in-classroom design competition, finalists from each grade level were invited to participate in a championship round with help from NASCAR drivers Connor Mosack and Lavar Scott, as well as industry STEM professionals Alba Colon of Hendrick Motorsports and Chris Justice of Stewart-Haas Racing.
