In response to the shortage of places in Chicago where people can get a free COVID-19 test, Noble has been working with a humanitarian relief organization called CORE to see if our campuses can be temporary COVID-19 testing sites for the communities we serve. As a result, yesterday Pritzker College Prep served as a free COVID-19 testing site and Rowe-Clark Math & Science Academy, in Garfield Park, has been approved to host a single day of COVID-19 testing on Friday, December 4.

To launch this school year, Noble's annual Kick Off moved to Zoom where staff members gathered to reconcile with Noble's past and publicly commit to anti-racism work across our schools. In the words of Constance Jones, Noble's CEO, "We all need to own our stuff. This is the first step towards any kind of authentic reconciliation, healing, and anti-racism work. Organizations that choose to bypass this critical step (and sadly, most do) because it makes them uncomfortable are fooling themselves. No real change will happen and you’ll be back to step one before you know it. You must do the hard work first."

Today we share our plan for the first semester of the Noble school year. The perspectives of our Noble community informed this plan and have made it better. More than 1,400 parents, students, teachers, and staff shared their ideas and feedback over the past few weeks. We are guided by principles that place the health and safety of our community paramount, prioritizes high-quality instruction, and values the belief that our staff and families must have the choice to do what is right for themselves and their families. Our three-step model will maintain excellent remote instruction while building in targeted student support. This system will allow us to prioritize a commitment to health and safety, continue a focus on academic results, and social-emotional support.
