Peterson Health Recognized as One of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare in 2026
Peterson Health in Kerrville, Texas was recently named one of the top 20 rural and community hospitals in the country.
Peterson Health has been selected by Modern Healthcare as one of the 2025 Best Places to Work in Healthcare for the fifth consecutive year! Peterson Health is one of only 150 healthcare organizations in the nation to be recognized.
Peterson Health has been recognized as a Top 100 Rural and Community Hospital by Chartis. Chartis’ annual Top 100 award program honors outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®.
The Board of Peterson Health has formed a CEO Search Committee who has been working diligently with an Executive Search Firm to find Cory Edmondson's replacement. Since Edmondson's last day in the role is February 7, the Board is following policy and procedure to ensure that Peterson Heatlh continues to function until Edmondson's replacement is found. Therefore, Joe Piszczor, COO for Peterson Health will fill the role as Interim CEO.

Peterson Health was named a Top Rural Hospital by the Leapfrog Group, a prestigious award widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive recognitions American hospitals can receive. Top hospitals were honored on December 5th at the 2023 Leapfrog Annual meeting and Awards Dinner in Washington, D.C.
The Employee Recognition Team awarded the Inspiring Others 2023 2nd Quarterly Winner: The winner was Beverly Fischer, RN on 2 West. For Going the Extra Mile: A patient was being discharged, but their wife did not show up and they were unable to reach her at home. The patient was concerned about his wife as she had the beginnings of dementia. Beverly assisted the patient in looking in the parking lot from the window and had security search the parking lot as well. Her car could not be located. Beverly realized she lived near the patient and with their permission, called some neighbors to go check on his wife. The patient was finally able to speak with his wife; she had gotten lost on her way to the hospital but managed to make it back home. The wife’s neighbor drove her to the hospital to pick up her husband. The patient was extremely grateful to Beverly for taking the time for caring so much and going above and beyond.
Peterson Regional Medical Center has been designated as an Acute stroke Ready (Level IV) Facility in Trauma Service Area-P by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). This designation represents Peterson Health's commitment to quality care and the vital role the hospital provides to the Texas Hill Country community.
