Clinicians from Phoenix Children’s continue to present their latest research findings at medical conferences throughout the country. In March 2023, some of these events included the Association of Pediatric Program Directors (#APPD) 2023 Annual Spring Meeting in Atlanta, Society of Hospital Medicine’s Converge in Texas, and the Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigators (#Palisi) Spring Meeting in California. Phoenix Children’s hosted its 2023 inpatient rehabilitation reunion. Our care team gather in-person with current and former patient families of Phoenix Children’s CARF-accredited Inpatient Rehabilitation Program for a day of food, games and fun. Attendees also benefited from learning about the latest community resources available.

Tiffaney Isaacson, senior injury prevention specialist at Phoenix Children’s, leads our pediatric drowning prevention program — a quality improvement study that equips pediatricians with evidence-based drowning prevention curriculum and resources they can share with families during well-child visits. This study, conducted in partnership with Salt River Project and Arizona State University, also offers participating providers are eligible to earn Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Part IV credits.

On Mar. 27, 2023, Phoenix Children’s announced the permanent appointment of Dr. Neil Friedman, a leading pediatric neurologist, as director of the Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children’s. As director, he continues his work to oversee and further enhance the institute’s comprehensive inpatient and outpatient neurological care and services to infants, children and teens with neurological-related issues.
