To avoid the worst impacts of climate change, we must keep global warming below a maximum of 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels in line with the 2015 Paris Agreement. To achieve this, we need to decarbonise on a global scale. This requires businesses to develop robust net zero strategies throughout the value-chain to accelerate sustainable systems. Meet Reece The Elephant, made from 100% Plastic Waste collected for recycling by our teams at our Nuneaton DC. 🐘 Team manager, Rav Ghatora shared, "At a Nuneaton we are looking to recycle as much single-use plastic and so far we have collected nearly Half a Tonne in just a few weeks." RS Industria has partnered with Brompton Bicycle, manufacturers of folding bicycles, to help them improve their manufacturing efficiencies, increase reliability, and reduce electricity consumption. After expanding their bicycle manufacturing plant into neighbouring industrial units, Brompton encountered a challenge with maintaining visibility over electricity consumption, given that the separate industrial units use different electricity accounts, meters, and networks. RS Industria is a solution that digitally connects a wide range of industrial equipment, providing a continuous stream of operating insights that enables engineers and operational managers to significantly improve reliability, operating efficiencies, and sustainability in a way that is simple, fast, and affordable. By digitally connecting each location’s industrial equipment, RS Industria created a single picture of electricity consumption, enabling Brompton Bicycle to optimise their electricity purchasing and save an expected £60,000 each year, which equates to 80,000 kWh of annual energy savings which is c. 17 tonnes of CO2e emissions. Due to the modular nature of RS Industria, Brompton Bicycles are able to roll out other applications of the solution quickly and cost-effectively.

Chris Eaton is a Key Account Manager and has worked at RS for eight and a half years. We caught up with him to discuss some of his memories of working in the business and to find out more about his current role. Hi Chris, what does a typical day look like for you as a KAM at RS? CE: "It's extremely varied to be honest. I could be supporting an F1 customer in the morning, a food factory in the afternoon and aviation company to finish the day. I support customers with their purchasing problems, maintenance problems, ESG problems, inventory problems and everything in between. RS is a solutions based company we are here to support the customer to ultimately be more efficient, save time and money." What is your favourite thing about working at RS? CE: "The variation of the job. I really enjoy learning how different things are made and watching new technology being brought to life. I enjoy working for RS as they have really provided me with a platform to grow and learn." Do you have any stand out memories from your time with the business so far? CE: "There have been many stand out memories. One in particular was supporting a customer on a complex issue that they were then able to reference and use as a case study to enable them to pass their CIPS Procurement course." #RSLife #Sales #KeyAccountManager
