We're on the telly! 🤓 Well done to our 100-strong team of Corby HQ volunteers, who created 30 hand-crank manual washing machines in support of our charity partners The Washing Machine Project. Besides supplying the parts, labour, and shipping, we're also really excited to be helping to develop data collection from the washing machines. This will allow TMP to accurately measure the impact they have on the people and communities who use them. Thanks to BBC News Look East and Northamptonshire Telegraph for coming to visit! #MakingAmazingHappen #WeAreRS

In a recent blog post, one of our RS group colleagues shared their personal experiences as a disabled individual within the workplace. Their candid and insightful account shed light on the challenges and triumphs faced by those with disabilities, offering valuable lessons for fostering a more inclusive and supportive work environment. The colleague's journey highlights the importance of accessibility, both physical and cultivating an inclusive workplace culture that values diversity and promotes understanding. Their experiences also underscore the power of open communication and collaboration. By openly discussing their disability and seeking support from colleagues and management, the colleague was able to navigate workplace challenges effectively. This open dialogue also helped to raise awareness and dispel misconceptions about disabilities. The story serves as a reminder that disability is not a defining characteristic but rather one aspect of a person's identity. By recognizing the unique strengths and contributions of individuals with disabilities, we can create a more equitable and enriching workplace for all. By embracing these principles, we can create a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their best.

After passing the catering course that brought him – on a learning placement – to the canteen in Corby, UK, Paul left to work in hospitality. But it wasn’t long until Paul’s mum convinced him to apply for a role in customer services taking him from banquets to telephones. And just like that, the wheels set in motion on a lifelong career. The business has changed over the past 35 years, but so has Paul; he’s gone from strength to strength. Managing teams in customer service, sales, calibration laboratory, technical dept and shared service centres, he’s experienced everything the business has to offer, and he’s the first to admit that it’s the opportunities that have kept him here so long. Paul explains: “At that time, we were taking orders over the phone using a physical catalogue and taking queries down by hand. Men wore a suit and tie; women wore skirts to the office. It was so formal; you wouldn’t recognise it. Our culture and attitudes have completely changed. In the last four years or so I came out to my colleagues about my relationship with my partner, Tim, something I wouldn’t have dreamed of doing back then. We’ve come such a long way.” “If you’d have told me, when I first walked into the canteen, that I’d be Head of Accounts Payable, leading global teams in the UK, China and Poland, I wouldn’t have believed you. But you can pick up anything once you set your mind to it.”
