This summer, SMS partnered with Cigna to beat the quarantine blues by engaging SMS employees and family members to participate in a 6-week fitness challenge. The challenge encouraged friendly competition between colleagues and teams to see who had the most fitness activity each week. Winning teams were able to chose a charity of their choice for a monetary donation from SMS and employees also had the opportunity to win gift cards in weekly drawings. Wellness and engagement has been key to healthy and productive employees during the pandemic. The SMS Fitness Challenge allowed employees to stay fit, challenge colleagues, and support their favorite charity all at the same time! Check out more details in the link below.

Effective immediately, Mr. Ben Friedman, Director of Operations, will be assuming the role of Vice President of Strategic Sourcing. Mr. Friedman has served at SMS for nearly 25 years, leading the company’s sourcing, procurement, and supply chain activities. His expertise extends to managing and contributing to corporate operational and process goals, as well as developing and establishing relationships with government customers, suppliers, and key vendor partners. SMS was awarded the United States Air Force’s Cyber Support Services 2 (CSS2) Task Order procured through the NETCENTS II NetOps and Infrastructure Solutions Small Business Contract. Under this $647M five-year task order, managed by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Enterprise IT & Cyber Infrastructure Division (AFLCMC/HNI), AFIN Ops & Sustainment Branch (AFLCMC/HNIB) at Hanscom Air Force Base (HAFB), SMS will deliver tier II and III help desk support via the Air Force Information Network (AFIN) Response Center (ARC); systems administration, engineering and management services for integration and test facilities; technical content/technical order development and sustainment support; field engineering representatives and subject matter experts worldwide. SMS has been awarded the Los Angeles Air Force Base (LAAFB) 61st Communications Squadron (CS) Base Operations Support Task Order under the NETCENTS-2 NETOPS & Infrastructure Solutions Small Business Contract. The $36 million, five-year task order supports the 61st CS at LAAFB and other regional USAF facilities, including the Space and Missile System Center (SMC). The 61st CS is a subordinate group under the U.S. Space Force. SMS will deliver information technology support services to include network control center support, configuration management, communications focal point, video teleconferencing, and overall cybersecurity support and training. “We are honored that SMS will support this very important mission,” stated Ted Crowley, Business Development Director. “Our past and current cybersecurity efforts with the USAF at bases throughout the nation gives us the knowledge and confidence to make this mission a success.”
SMS announced today that it has received a 2020 Top Workplaces award by The Washington Post. The Top Workplaces feature identifies private, public, nonprofit and government agencies within the DC metro area with the highest ratings as voted by their employees. Selection is based solely on employee feedback gathered through an anonymous third-party survey where more than 3,500 DC area companies were invited to participate and 406 were eventually evaluated with a record number of employees participating in 2020. Energage, LLC administered the questionnaire which measured several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution, and connection. The review asked people to evaluate their employers based on 24 statements regarding how they view their jobs, leadership and the health of their organization. Molly Murphy started with SMS in 2010 and has steadily developed into an integral part of the company. Molly has been the focal point in supporting our increasingly complex customer requirements as well as ensuring that all of our employees have the tools necessary to do their jobs. Ben Friedman, Vice President of Strategic Sourcing, stated: “Whether it is working with our project managers to deliver materials to a project site or finding a supplier of hand sanitizer or face masks, Molly is always ready to get the job done right. SMS announced today their award of the U.S. Air Force Intranet Control (AFINC) II Task Order (TO). The 5-year (one-year w/four 1-year options) task order was awarded to SMS on the NETCENTS 2 NetOps and Infrastructure Solutions Small Business Contract. SMS will be supporting the 26th Network Operations Squadron (26 NOS) at Maxwell Air Force Base-Gunter Annex, Montgomery, Alabama. The mission of the 26 NOS is to provide mission assurance to the warfighter through the operation, management, and defense of the Department of Defense Informational Network (DoDIN).
