At Sanford Health, we offer educational assistance for all full-time and part-time employees who have been with us for at least one year. Participants must also remain employed by us for at least one year following course completion. For Austin, a sourcing specialist at Sanford, the educational assistance program has not only given him financial assistance, but it also reminded him that his work family encourages and supports his growth. “It’s nice to know that Sanford is providing help to its employees, so they can seek further education,” said Austin. “This [program] is for people who are questioning what they want to do and where they want to go with their career.” When deciding he wanted to go back to school to pursue his master’s degree in counseling, he felt like he had skills he wasn’t utilizing, and he wanted to strengthen them. We care about our staff, and we want every single one of them to succeed in their own way. Our educational assistance program is for anyone looking to grow. Sanford Health’s Castle of Care is the only hospital in South Dakota dedicated to caring just for children. For Kayla, a child life specialist at the Castle, every day is an opportunity for her to live out Sanford Health’s mission by sharing God’s love through the work of health, healing, and comfort. “As a child life specialist, we get the opportunity to care for these patients that enter through our doors and get the opportunity to put a positive spin on their situation." Kayla’s favorite part about working at the Castle of Care is how she is able to share God’s love by doing her best to bring them joy and cheer while also loving on the patients. After opening in March of 2009, Sanford Health Children’s Castle is home to over 35 pediatric specialties and the only Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in the area. Each support team member plays a valuable role in making Sanford the family that it is today.

After your phone screen with Sanford Health, the next step in the interview process will be a video interview. This occasionally will be set up during the phone screen prior, so have your calendar ready to discuss dates with the Talent Advisor. During a video interview, you should always have your camera on. Therefore, try to keep a clean, blank background against a wall, door, or curtain. You don’t need to download any software or application for our video interviews; you can join right from your browser. Log on to the interview at least five to ten minutes early so you can turn on your microphone and video before the interviewer joins. Remember, an interview is a chance for you to ask us any questions you have. As important as it is for us to get to know you, it is just as important for you to get to know us! After your video interview, our Talent Acquisition team will be in touch with the next steps. Depending on the position, multiple interviews might follow your initial video interview. However, regardless of the position, be confident and go into your interviews with a smile.

After you apply at Sanford Health, you are probably crossing your fingers, hoping to hear back with an interview. We want you to be fully prepared for when that day comes, so here is a glimpse at our interview process. The first step we take after you apply is checking licensures (when applicable). The Talent Advisor checks to make sure you have correct licenses or background requirements for the role in which you applied for. If you do, then you will move forward to the next step in the process: a phone screen. The Talent Advisor or our new chatbot, Morgan, will reach out to you via email, text, or phone call to set this up. Phone screens are your first point of contact with the company. It’s the first time you get to talk to us and the first time we get to talk to you. Be sure to answer this phone call in a quiet and distraction-free environment. Ask us any questions you may have. If you scheduled an early phone screen, be awake before we call you. We want to hear from an eager, prepared you. Check back on 5/31 for part 2 to learn about the rest of our interview process.

When applying for a position at Sanford Health, most people apply through our careers page or Indeed. Both methods bring your application to the same place: the hands of our Talent Advisors, also known as our internal website. Candidates who apply on Sanford Careers will be asked to create a Workday account, and depending on the position, a resume might also be required. Those who apply on Indeed will be asked similar questions to that of our website. If you apply from the Indeed website, we recommend you follow up with someone from Talent Acquisition about three weeks after to make sure everything transfers over correctly. This could be as simple as asking for a status update on your application. We also have jobs posted on Facebook, Google, and many other pages. No matter how you apply, your application will always end up in the same place: our hands. So, there is nothing to worry about! If you have any questions throughout your application process, please reach out to hrhelp@sanfordhealth.org.
