Three years ago, the #SonyGlobalSocialJusticeFund was created to provide support to organizations that are advancing racial and social justice worldwide. Since then, we’ve fostered more than 500 partnerships across 70 countries, and it continues to be a top priority to seek new opportunities to make a difference within our company, communities, and around the world. In commemoration of the anniversary, employees across Sony attended a panel conversation about amplifying storytelling through film, games, images, and music. Panelists included #SonyPics partners Jeff and Nicole Friday (American Black Film Festival), Henry Hicks (National Museum of African American Music), Professor Jim Huntley (University of Southern California), Dr. Tonya Matthews (International African American Museum), and Michael McAfee (PolicyLink). Last month, we hosted our annual Sony Global Volunteer Day as a demonstration of #SonyPics’ commitment to our communities and volunteerism. For one of our many projects around the world, we partnered with City Year Los Angeles and the Exceptional Children’s Foundation (ECF) to paint a variety of murals and other beautification projects throughout ECF’s Kayne Eras Center. This nonpublic special education school helps students ages 5-22 develop the social, intellectual, and emotional skills they need to learn at their fullest potential.
