There's plenty of buzz surrounding the new documentary "The Pollinators," which tells the story of the billions of bees that help maintain the delicate balance of our complex food system and the serious danger they face. Our Burt's Bees brand is one of the sponsors of the film, which follows migratory beekeepers as they travel with their truckloads of bees across the U.S., pollinating the crops that become the fruits, nuts and vegetables we eat. In San Francisco? Check out the latest screening of the film June 5 as part of SF DocFest. Learn more: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vM937

Our Eco Warriors watched their waste during Earth Month, building on our corporate waste-reduction commitments. Many of our earthly locations took part in the effort, including our international offices in Canada, Chile and Mexico and our U.S. sites in Kennesaw, Georgia; Springfield, Oregon; Willowbrook, Illinois; and Pleasanton, California. Some of the activities included planting of pollinator gardens, site clean-ups, a shift to reusable materials, and employee planet pledges and education efforts.

We started Day 1 of the Ocean Plastics Leadership Summit with a beach cleanup in Bermuda, and found microplastics mixed in throughout the sand and algae. Burt's Bees strives to protect and preserve nature by encouraging responsible packaging, product recyclability and mindful waste practices at its own facilities.

During the Ocean Plastics Leadership Summit, our team snorkeled in the Sargasso Sea, where a rotating ocean “gyre” traps large amounts of plastic. They saw firsthand the microplastic particles that harm marine life and enter our food supply. Our Brita brand is working to help reduce bottled water waste that can end up in oceans. Using Brita pitchers, dispensers, faucet mounts and filtering bottles can replace up to 1,800 single-use plastic bottles per year.

Our Glad brand is committed to using its strength in innovation and brand-building to drive waste reduction efforts. Pictured here is one of the beaches in Bermuda, which our team, along with the Ocean Plastics Leadership Summit, circumnavigated over the course of three days to explore solutions to the issue of ocean plastics at the North Atlantic Gyre.

We're always looking for ways to shrink our operational footprint, which is why we exceeded our 2020 goal of 20% reductions in 3 of 4 key areas by the end of calendar year 2017. But there's more work to do and we're making progress. #GoodGrowth
