"Community engagement signifies outreach and lending a hand to help those who are most vulnerable. I take joy in reaching out to community-based organizations because they can access populations that we might not necessarily be able to reach. As a part of the VNSNY family, I have adopted the mission statement to reach out to those who are less fortunate and in need of help the most. As we engage in our community with acts of selflessness, we uncover true harmony. That is what brings success." -Isaac Lama, Outreach and Enrollment Specialist, SelectHealth

VNSNY was the first home health care organization in New York to launch multicultural programs. Collectively, members of our staff speak over 50 languages, which means that language isn't a barrier for our patients, clients, and plan members who come to us for care.

Addressing Health Care Disparities
“Helping people return to a normal life makes me very happy,” says physical therapist Ahmed E. “When I first meet them, they might be unable to walk or move, and many of them lose their ability to enjoy their lives. When I can get them back to simple activities like getting out of the house, showering, or shopping--things most of us take for granted--it helps restore their sense of hope. Helping them regain their independence is one of my favorite things about my job.”
