In celebration of Giving Tuesday, Vera Bradley presented a $136,000 donation to national non-profit Blessings in a Backpack. Funds for this donation were raised through our back-to-school campaign to increase awareness for Blessings in a Backpack and its mission to end childhood hunger on the weekends. Rob Wallstrom, CEO of Vera Bradley, said, “We are proud to partner with this great organization to eradicate childhood hunger, and this Giving Tuesday, we’re happy to support Blessings in a Backpack in an even bigger way thanks to the generosity and compassion of our customers.”

The Student’s International Business Council from the University of Notre Dame recently visited Vera Bradley’s Design Center to present ideas on how to win in the modern omni-channel retail environment. The students outlined competitive advantages, identified which retailers are currently excelling, and provided recommendations for how to drive better traffic and customer relationships amidst growing pressure from online channels. Our Factory store at Tanger Outlets Branson in Branson, Missouri nearly doubled in size as it underwent an expansion project at the end of October. “We are excited to complete our last factory store expansion of 2019! On Monday, global superstar and philanthropist Jason Derulo, on behalf of the Just For You Foundation, hosted a 2,000-bag backpack build to benefit under-served students in the Los Angeles area. Vera Bradley was proud to support the event by providing 2,000 backpacks to the charitable effort. “I am grateful for the opportunity to support kids in the Los Angeles area. I’m proud that our Foundation can spearhead the effort of providing backpacks, food, and core school supplies to 2,000 under-served kids. We appreciate the support of our generous partners greatly,” said Derulo.

The Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer recently held its annual Tickled Pink fundraiser and presented a check for $2.1 million to staff from the Vera Bradley Foundation Center for Breast Cancer Research at Indiana University School of Medicine. Lynda Houk, Executive Director of the Foundation, said, “Tickled Pink brings together a diverse group of women with one thing in common – that their lives have been impacted in some way by breast cancer. This event helps us raise awareness and funds for research while also celebrating the hope for a future free from breast cancer.”

Vera Bradley Merchandise Manager Tina Conrad, a breast cancer survivor, recently completed the Fort4Fitness half-marathon in Fort Wayne, Indiana and raised $1,000 for the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer through her race sponsorships. “I run for three reasons. One, for research, because research is what will make a difference. Two, I run because I can and I want to honor those who can’t. I don’t take my health for granted! And three, to lower my chances of recurrence. Exercise has been proven to greatly decrease the risks of recurrence in breast cancer survivors,” Tina shared.
