As Chief Technology Officer, John Schneider leads and mentors Whereoware’s web development and technical services team, ensuring the highest technical excellence, project management, and quality assurance are built into every website and technology project. Taking a moment to look back and appreciate the rapid digital evolution of the last decade, we see a constant acceleration of powerful capabilities and innovation, enabling brands to get-to-market faster and pursue the best possible digital experiences for their customers. The pace of digital never slows - what do today’s brands need to compete in the race for digital transformation? The MarTech landscape is always changing. The best path to client success is always changing. Customers’ norms and expectations are always changing. Technology, industry, security, and opportunity is always changing. What is right today may be wrong tomorrow; may be obsolete five years from now. At Whereoware, we’re our clients guide through the ever-changing digital landscape.
The digital landscape is ever-changing. Client needs evolve, as consumer expectations escalate, and it’s our job to make sense of it all. To succeed, you need to be confident, actionable, and unafraid to fail. Thankfully, years (let’s not ask how many) of experience have awarded me a unique understanding of the intersection between agency, client, customer, media, and digital platforms. I wish I would have known earlier on about the importance of work relationships. When we get caught up investing all our time towards the advancement of our careers, relationships suffer, both at home and in the office. It’s important to take time for family and friends, and to do what brings you joy. What I’ve learned over the years is the stronger your relationships are, the more alliances you build, the more people to support you, and the more likely you are to be successful. When I look back at my career, my greatest accomplishment is not the work, but the friendships I’ve made along the way.
8 years ago, I was hired to “be a bridge between our developers and clients” to translate needs and expectations and ensure more seamless communication. Since then, I’ve held various roles focused on nurturing this client and technical resource relationship, and as Senior Director, setting the Delivery and Ongoing Support teams up for success. I truly believe in leading by example. I’m in the trenches with my team, so I can guide them, especially since I manage people whose jobs I cannot do – such as develop code. Regardless of the best laid plans, development requires a ton of flexibility and responsiveness. Ongoing support is solving problems and answering questions rapid fire, my background prepared me to think on my feet, make important decisions for the future, and always put the customers’ objectives first. I try to see everything as an opportunity for growth, rather than a black and white hardship/success. I have a few mottos that I live by…YOU are in control of your destiny - no one else. And fake it ‘till you make it!
I started as a developer and worked on any and everything that came my way to build expertise in all the areas. It really helped me identify my core strengths and areas of interest. Working with different kinds of companies, work cultures, and people along the way has helped build my interpersonal skills. I am a big believer in “teamwork." Everyone on the team should have equal opportunity. Opportunity creates team belonging and accountability. I have a passion for helping people and solving problems. The ability to make a difference - be it big or small - in anything we do for our team members and clients motivates me every day. Finding a career that we truly enjoy can be difficult, as most of us will experience a job that we don’t like, or that isn’t suitable for us. However, keep trying – the right workplace is out there! We spend most of our lives at work. If we aren't happy in our role, this will undoubtedly have an adverse effect on our personal life.
Teya Tuccio-Flick, Partner & Executive VP of Operations I started off as an electrical engineer, but soon after I started working, I realized that engineering wasn't quite the right fit for me. I went back to school to get my MBA and to pivot my career into business. Nevertheless, I carry through a lot of the problem solving skills and data processing from my first career into the agency life. That mix between engineering and business has served me well, allowing me to make wiser and more informed decisions along the way. I lean towards a more democratic style of leadership. I love hearing the ideas of all the smart and talented folks that make up the diverse teams here at Whereoware. Empowering the people around me to overcome challenges, make decisions, grow in their expertise, and succeed. You can't stay static. You must constantly change, adapt, learn, and grow to make it in this industry. It keeps my day-to-day life at work so exciting and rewarding. I'm never bored and am always learning something new.
