It might be hard to rely on your crystal ball for signs of what might be in store in the coming year, since there’s a good chance that it got shattered when you threw it against a brick wall at some point in the last few years. Between COVID, Brexit, supply chain breakdowns, and rampant inflation, crystal balls haven’t been much use lately when it comes to identifying what’s ahead just down the road. But maybe, just maybe, the world is starting to get back to normal, and perhaps you’re ready to start trusting your trusty crystal ball once again. We took a look around the field service industry and analyzed the signs of what seems to be coming our way in 2023. Here are some of the most likely trends we see emerging.
You know how you sometimes see an image of someone with a tiny little angel and a tiny little devil standing on their shoulders? This dynamic duo seem to have nothing better to do than offer their advice on what our hero should do. Should you make some room in your lane of traffic for somebody trying to merge? The angel says “Yes, do the right thing.” Should you take the last donut from the break room at work? The devil says “Go for it!” Well, suppose your field technicians could have that kind of real-time guidance on their day-to-day activities? Naturally, you’d only want to let the “angel” have a say – no devils allowed in your field operation! Our new Dynamic Audits product basically gives your field technicians an angel on their shoulder offering guidance to help make sure they get the job done – and done right the first time.
Zinier’s Parts & Inventory product enables field service operations to keep track of parts and material inventory across warehouses and trucks, and ensures that technicians have the right parts and materials they need to complete their tasks. Our latest release introduces a significant improvement to the way parts and inventory are managed, empowering users to track and manage inventory at the unit level.
Remember the story of Goldilocks – always looking for that “just right” balance between too much and too little? It’s a familiar feeling for many people in field service management who need to plan for capacity. If you have too many field workers, you wind up paying people just to wait around for the next job. But if you didn’t catch that a surge in demand was coming your way, you won’t have enough workers available, and you’ll wind up taking a hit on SLAs or customer satisfaction. Here’s a look at some of the common challenges associated with managing capacity and a preview of how Zinier’s new Capacity Management product solves these problems.
One of our goals for Zinier’s solutions is to produce applications that are as easy to use – in the field and in the backoffice – as the best consumer-grade applications. You probably don’t even think that much about your own favorite apps that you use everyday. They just work, and don’t intrude on your daily activities. Maybe you’re always on Slack all day long or spend your evenings on Netflix or TikTok or take care of your transportation thanks to Uber or Google Maps, all without really noticing that you’ve been using those apps. Zinier’s Director of Product Design Enrique Alvarado has his own favorite app that inspires the way he thinks about designing our own products. You can find out what that app is, and how it inspires him in this profile from our Humans of Zinier blog post series.
In honor of International Women’s Day, focused on the theme of “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality,” some of Zinier’s own #fearlesswomen shared their inspirations (along with a few of Zinier's #fearlessmen). You can read about the women who inspire them on the Zinier blog: https://www.zinier.com/blog/saluting-fearless-women-on-international-womens-day
