At Zions Bank, community engagement is part of who we are. We recently joined leaders from across Utah’s business community at the Salt Lake Chamber’s Utah Community Builders Workplace Mental Health & Well-Being Series to discuss what makes a meaningful volunteer program — and why it matters. For employers, strong volunteer programs start with alignment: supporting organizations that reflect the company’s mission and employees’ passions, seeking out a wide range of service opportunities, and approaching each project with patience, humility and a willingness to learn. For job seekers, these same principles can help guide career decisions. Look for an organization whose values match your own, that encourages authentic community involvement, and that sees growth as something built through purpose, collaboration and impact beyond the workplace. As a community-focused bank, Zions Bank is proud to invest in our people and the communities we serve. Learn more about Zions Bank and explore opportunities to be part of our team.
At Zions Bank, investing in our communities — through culture, creativity and economic opportunity — is part of who we are. During a recent Sundance Film Festival event in Salt Lake City, President and CEO Nate Callister reflected on our long-standing support of the festival and its importance to Utah’s identity: “Zions Bank has long been a supporter of the Sundance Film Festival and the role it plays in elevating the cultural landscape of our state. And we’ll continue to invest in arts, culture and economic vitality in its many forms.” That commitment guides our work every day as we support local organizations, strengthen our economy and help build vibrant communities across the region. If you’re looking to build a meaningful career with a company dedicated to making a lasting local impact, we invite you to join our team at Zions Bank.
At Zions Bank, your career is about more than work — it’s about making an impact. Last month, more than 90 employees from Zions Capital Markets came together for a strategic offsite retreat that combined team building with community service. From supporting Camp Kostopulos in Emigration Canyon to helping The Children’s Center Utah and restoring a migratory bird reserve with the Jordan River Commission, our teams worked side-by-side to make a difference. We also provided donations to each organization to help cover supplies and staff time — because giving back is part of who we are. When you join Zions Bank, you’re not just building a career — you’re joining a team that values collaboration, community and purpose. Ready to find fulfillment in your work? Our Northern Utah Region team, led by Clint Smith, joined with the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation for a landscaping cleanup project near the Bear River Massacre Site outside of Preston, Idaho. Participants learned about the history of the site and the band’s overall restoration plans for the area, which include removing invasive plant species, planting native species and restoring Battle Creek to its natural state. Zions Bank purchased 10 new shovels that were used for the project and then donated to the band for future work. We’re grateful for our caring bankers who are committed to building relationships, giving back and helping their communities thrive. Joining Zions Bank means becoming part of a diverse, compassionate team united by a shared commitment to strengthening our communities. Here, you’ll discover clear pathways for career growth within a culture that prioritizes skill development and empowers you to thrive — personally and professionally.

On National Intern Day, we celebrate the 45 talented students and recent graduates who are spending their summers working for Zions Bank and Zions Bancorporation. We appreciate the fresh perspectives, insight and talents that they bring to their individual roles. Every year, we hire junior/senior level undergraduate and graduate students for our summer internship program, which runs from May to mid-August. All internships are full-time, paid opportunities located within our operational footprint. Our internship program provides students the opportunity to experience hands-on work within our core departments. Interns also enjoy networking opportunities and presentations from company leaders. From engaging in special projects to collaborating with executives, students will leave with a sense of energy and excitement about the banking and technology industry.
When reflecting on our beloved Paint-a-Thon annual service project — which benefited 30,000 members of our community this year — our President and CEO Paul Burdiss said it best: “Zions Bank is invested in our communities because our communities are invested in Zions Bank.” We’re grateful for the partnership with Utah Community Action and the James R. Russell Head Start facility in Salt Lake City. Our volunteers washed windows, spruced up the landscaping and painted a shed. The effort is one of 20 service projects that took place in Idaho and Utah during the first two weeks of June.

During this year's Volunteer Appreciation Week, we celebrate the Zions Bank employees who are making a difference in their communities. Last week, Zions Bankers in Southern Utah completed a landscaping and accessibility project for the Family Support Center of Washington County, a nonprofit that provides emergency and respite childcare and parental education. They replaced existing rock landscaping with artificial turf to create a child-friendly outdoor space and repaired the shade canopy over the playground. We’re grateful to Interstate Rock Products, Inc and turfit Utah for their donations of materials in support of the project. Earlier this month, employees assisted with Catholic Community Services of Utah's Bridging the Gap mobile food distribution program that supports children attending elementary school in the Weber and Ogden school districts. Local bankers volunteer once a month at Roy Elementary School to unload trucks, set up tables and hand out food to children. Be part of a team of diverse and compassionate colleagues dedicated to improving our communities!
Being actively engaged in important community issues is one of our Guiding Principles, and our Zions Bankers take the mandate to heart. Many of our Retail Support colleagues have recently volunteered at the Utah Food Bank, the Catholic Community Services of Utah Food Pantry, and The Road Home Medically Vulnerable People Shelter. Retail Banking Operations manager Kaylynn Irsik noted that due to the nature of the Retail Support department’s role, employees typically don’t have the opportunity to participate in community service activities during normal business hours. “Everyone was in such positive spirits and had big smiles on their faces. It truly was a very special experience for everyone who participated."
