Our new President and CEO Paul Burdiss didn’t hesitate to roll up his sleeves and roll on a coat of fresh blue paint at the West Valley City home of Vietnam veteran Randy Nielsen and his wife, Virginia. For the past 32 years, Zions Bankers have embraced the opportunity to help freshen up the homes and yards of our elderly, disabled and veteran neighbors during our annual Paint-a-Thon community service project. One of the guiding principles of Zions Bank is to be actively engaged in community issues and help provide creative solutions to community needs. All employees are encouraged to be active participants in their communities.
During Pride Month we’re proud to celebrate our talented LGBTQIA+ employees — but our support is year-round. Diversity in the workplace is a high priority for Zions Bank. Benefits start on day one for employees working at least 20 hours a week and include comprehensive wellness programs, coverage for domestic partners and adoption assistance. Our LGBTQIA+ Employee Forum brings community members and allies together to share ideas and inspiration, and drive programs and initiatives to break down barriers to success for diverse team members.
Branch managers and Community Banking employees from our Metro Salt Lake Region recently spent an afternoon volunteering with The Other Side Thrift Boutique. The team sorted clothing donations, sorted and priced new shoes, and assembled furniture and other donated brand-new items. The boutique is operated and managed by students and graduates of The Other Side Academy, a nonprofit dedicated to addressing homelessness, criminal behavior and long-term addiction through a residential life skills and training program for men and women. “The Other Side folks were thrilled with how much we were able to accomplish,” said Region President Stephanie Sherrell. “It was so much fun!”
From 'Access' to 'Zion's Children of Haiti' — and more than 380 nonprofits in-between — our employees generously donated more than $647,000 as part of our annual Giving Campaign.
We’re grateful to our employees for donating more than $22,000 to our food drive benefiting the Utah Food Bank, The Idaho Foodbank and the Jackson Cupboard. “It's wonderful to see so many people come together for a charitable purpose,” said Hannah Williams, chair of this year's food drive. “We are making a real impact by providing meals for 67,316 individuals."
