They are very generous about sick days for a retailer.

This is tricky... Apple uses a system called Kronos and your Easy Pay to monitor when you are late. You cannot clock in 5 minutes late or you lose a half a point. However once you get 3 points you are put on review. To be fair they give you 5 sick days or anytime call outs for the year plus three additional call outs which reset every 90 days. It may sound confusing but it does work to your benefit

You will call into a sick line and then have to email or text your boss in addition. I recommend calling the sick line before contacting management. Otherwise, management will try to talk you into coming into work regardless of how you feel. I have been seriously ill and asked to work when I had ample sick time available, and very little call-in activity which was well below the stipulations for review or any type of warning. High pressure on sick days!
