The benefits have reduced drastically over the last 8 years and nearly tripled in price. The cost for my 2018 benefits exceed last years raise.
The flexibility to work from home or off hours to support kids events has been great.

Great Benefit package. The new vacation policy worked well for me. Take time off as you need them. Had one of the best manager at GE Transportation.

Benefits were decent, but expensive. Health insurance is very expensive and restrictive (high total out of pocket costs) compared to similar companies. It was a top complaint with employees.
401K options were also very limited, and performance of funds was average or slightly below. There was a reasonable company match.
Pension was eliminated for new hires starting in 2011.
Vision coverage was very limited, and bundled with health care. No Al a Carte option.
Dental was good, as were ancillary benefits (Life, accident, etc.).
Paid time off moved to a permissive time off for salaried employees, meaning there was not a set number of days off based on pay grade. The trick was to actually be able to pull away and take the time off / get it approved. Most people were not able to take time off entitled, because the workload prevented it. Also, since the permissive policy essentially offered 0 days off (take what you need instead of an allotment) it meant they didn't pay out for unused vacation when employees left for another company.
Most other programs were very limited (only certain sites or pay grades could participate). Examples included stock and travel / commuter benefits.
Personnel development opportunities were good at first, but were difficult to get approved the last few years due to significant cuts and layoffs. This should improve as the company restructures.

The health, medical, and dental insurance is good; the 401k, vacation and time offs are very good. The bad is if you are sick or your child is sick and even if you bring in a doctor's statement you will get a point for it.

Horrible! $10k for family plan and still have $3k deductible. Thanks GE, glad shareholders are because your employees aren't.
