Best thing is the free health care, worst is no matching on the 401(k) TSP

Insurance is great. Leave time is great.

The benefits cannot be beat. I have a large family and some of them require a lot of medical care, but Tricare covers most expenses with no copays most of the time. Dental plans are about 20% copay on most procedures, dental cleanings covered twice a year per person.

Best part is you receive paid vacation from the first month. Worse part is that you do not always have the ability to choose your primary care provider

30 days off a year, tax-free if the vacation was earned in a tax-free combat zone. TSP which is a government type 401k. THEY DO NOT MATCH MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS CONTRIBUTIONS. Only federal employees such as the CIA and FBI get matching up to somewhere around 10%. Full medical and dental.

You can't beat the health coverage and housing allowances. they will also cover relocation expenses

The best compensation package there is. Easily the best advantage of joining the military.

covers all employees including preexisting conditions decent coverage at reasonable cost and deductibles

The medical care wasn't as good as what is given in the Civilian sector, but I was glad to have health insurance than to not have any.
