The job training does very little to prepare you for the actual job

Very thorough and very informative

Cursory training, management too busy to adequately attend to this.

The job training is actually the best week working for the post office. They give you a quick overview on how to be successful.

They really go into detail about what you need to do. You have training courses at the salt lake post office and they make sure you're comfortable before getting the job.

I was a window clerk for years. In the 80's and 90's, the training was three weeks long. Now the new window clerks have about a third of that. They are not knowledgeable on the many things a good clerk needs to know. I had to fill in for a few weeks after not being on the window for a couple of years, and was amazed at how little the newer employees knew about the mail and mailing requirements. I went to a new position within the service and the quality of training I received was so bad that I later became a trainer for our unit.

There are many online courses that are offered for training.

Your initial job training is classroom oriented. After you have been placed in a position, they have extensive online training available.

To many Untrained and unprofessional leaders with limited to no business or office etiquettes very limited in training skills.
