Job Training

Great on the job training. They train you on everything in relation to your job. They pay for you to stay in a hotel during your training. They reimburse you for mileage doing your training.

Some of the training is useful, but some of it is laughable. The USPS has many policies in place that are just CYA policies, so if someone does something against policy they can blame the employee, even though the employee has to break the policy to get the job done. This is why people are rarely fired or punished, because they're breaking policies with the tacit blessing of managers. I was chatting with the trainer who trained me about all the rules, and he said all you really need to remember is one thing: Don't steal mail. By that he meant even if its junk mail that is going to be thrown out. Don't take anything. That will get you fired. Other than that, you'll be fine. Since being on the job a few years, I can attest that he is right.

You get paid during the interview and then they throw you right into work.

General overviews dont cover a fraction of the things you will encounter on your various routes

Can train a little longer for a full understanding. Ask questions.

Depends on whose the person giving the training

your trained one way then someone else will may say that's not the correct way

The only positive thing I have to say is that I had a good driving instructor for my driving test and a good on the job trainer but the amount of time you train is inadequate and you experience could be different if you get someone who doesn't do their job well. The actual training for the post office and carrier academy was a huge waste of time and you are treated poorly.
