Job Training

they train you for a whole week and it is paid all day training which is nice

Job training is a couple of weeks at a main.post office them they send you to wherever you will be working. My experience has been managers and postmaster who scream at you and threaten you with termination. They don't train you. I've been sent outside for asking questions of the carrier I was going to cover. They don't ask questions. They make assumptions and try their best to knock you down. No credit given - ever. This has been in multiple offices. They expect you too know everything the second time you see the route and the case. Over 500 to 700 addresses, strange neighborhoods, unmarked boxes they don't care. They don't approach the problems, they attack the carriers. Turnover is very high. Probably why they lose so much money. So much screening and training then they're attacked in their first days. They quit because it's horrible.

the training depends from station to station. i was taught one way that i used for 5 years and had corporate come in and say everything i was doing was a time wasting practice

19 years ago there was probably about a weeks worth of overall training before they threw you in there & said let's get it done. You, had 90 days & if they thought your overall job performance wasn't up to there standards. Than, you were history. Now, there is Far more training. Between driving, delivering, I would say at least 3-4 weeks worth. They, are trying to make sure the new hires are prepared for everything. They, don't want to invest the time & money to have people just walk out & quit one day. It is a highly stressful job!

The training before we went on the job was real well done and done at the Post Office in Aurora. Was great to see how things work and mail was sorted.

their really isnt a job trainingjust a tow day orientation then you work the next day after or that same night

Mostly on-the-job training. Orientation focuses on the principles of the USPS in general. You will not know your actual job duties or receive training until you begin work.

The RCA academy was a great introduction to the job. Actual working on the job was a better learning experience.

The benefits are great not outstanding but far better than what I have seen with many organizations. Just a great company
