When employees enroll in the ESPP, they receive two types of benefits: the opportunity to purchase shares of Walgreens common stock at a 10% discount off the market price and without any broker’s fees.

They don't let you purchase stock in advance where you can obtain it at certain prices. Instead you have to save up and they buy it when you have enough money, which could be at a high price
