You pay the first $5,000 for any individual year and then Xcel picks up nearly 100% from then on.

They provide a High Deductible Health Plan with deductibles that are expensive. I believe it was around $3000 for an individual and $5500 for a family. They don't contribute to your deductible unless you agree to invasive medical testing on site.

HDHP, but the premiums were very low and there were individual and family deductible limits that were also fairly low. The company contributes to the HSA if meeting Good Health Incentives. Overall the insurance is nearly free, just need to pay for the actual health costs up until the relatively low deductible at which it is a 90/10 split. Max out-of pocket limit is only 50% more than the deductible.

About 80% of the employees at Xcel are contractors, so Xcel does not offer benefits of any kind. Contractors must get benefits from the staffing agency that hired them, and those benefits are marginal at best.
