A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn and I set up an initial phone screen with her. She was friendly and helpful, and quickly set me up with the next person, the direct manager. What I find interesting is that EAs don’t report into the executive they support, they report to the Director or Operations. I didn’t fully realize that until I was interviewing with said person. He was friendly and I guess that provides an extra layer for executives but I’m not a fan of that structure. He also repeatedly said that EAs are fully embedded in their silos (orgs). Interesting word choice; silos suggest that orgs don’t talk/ communicate with each other. May not be the case but from where I come from, silo in the workplace has always been a negative term. I didn’t move forward after that. The recruiter did email me to let me know which I appreciated. After investing any time, it’s nice not to be ghosted which unfortunately happens a lot. So that stood out to me.
